'The Missing' Season 2 Release Date, News: Starz Renews Show, Plot May Change

Earlier this week, Starz officially announced that there will be a second season for the hit British drama television series "The Missing." There might be some changes to be implemented on the second chapter of the show.

"The Missing" Season 2 will return with a similar storyline as the previous season but it will be set in a new location, a new timeline, and even a new character. The Williams, Harry and Jack, will reprise their part in the production as both writers and executive producers.

"The remarkably talented Williams brothers crafted a beautifully complex and heart wrenching story with The Missing and while the story, character and locations will be different in this new iteration, we anticipate the same captivating long-form storytelling and character development that critics and viewers have responded so well to," Carmi Zlotnik, the managing director for Starz, told Entertainment Weekly.

"We have been thrilled with the critical response and look forward to continuing our terrific collaboration with the BBC, New Pictures and Playground Entertainment," the Starz head added.

Twice nominated for a Golden Globe award, the show tracks the disappearance and manhunt of a 5-year-old Oliver Hughes.

According to the synopsis posted on IMDB.com, the TV program "explores the impact of a child's abduction, the emotional cost of obsession, hope and finding when to let go."

The show was given by Rotten Tomatoes a Certified Fresh label of 96 percent "freshness" after it aired its first episode of the first season.

"The Missing" Season 1 will conclude on Saturday, Jan. 10 on Starz.
