'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 News, Cast, Spoilers: Jodi Lyn O'Keefe's Jaw Drops Learning Jo's Fate

When many initially found out that Alaric was once again trying to revive his dead wife, it wasn't quite well received by fans. Many felt that it was time he let her go and moved on; however, Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie, already confirmed before that she was going to be involved in the resurrection. The only twist in this event was the use of the Phoenix Stone and the sudden decision to do so. Now, as the most recent episode has proven, apparently gaining life back isn't just something that should be done on a whim.

Jo's character is definitely back now, but she may be more of Jo physically and not so much spiritually. Initally on her return, she pretends to not know anything about the modern world. As Alaric goes about trying to help her adjust, she surprises him by grabbing his gun and pointing at him, while claiming that she was stabbed. Although who she is hasn't been confirmed, it can be safe to say that it isn't Jo's spirit who found her way back to her body. In the end, Alaric, who is desperate for a reconnection with his wife, takes her hand and accepts her in a way as he assures "Jo" that the answer will be sought out.

Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, who plays Jo, recently talked to TVLine about her thoughts on the revival of her character, in which she admits to have been surprised herself. When she found out about the impending resurrection of Jo in the show, she says that her "jaw dropped." She was then later asked about the new person inside Jo's body, and she says, "Really, I just went with the amnesia. Regardless of who or what this is inside Jo, she doesn't know anything. So it's a clean slate at the moment, which is really kind of nice, because you get to discover who she is as you go along.".

When asked if O'Keefe knew whose soul is inside her character's body, she reveals, "Yes, finally. They like to hold information from us. Everything's on a need-to-know basis, but I do now know who's in her body."
