'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Cast Rumors: Nina Dobrev To Return? S7E18 Spoilers Dropped

Fans have long been wondering for that possibility that original cast member, Nina Dobrev, can return to The CW's hit supernatural drama TV series "The Vampire Diaries."

Previously, executive producer Julie Plec made it very clear that the doors are still open for the actress who played the fan-favorite Elena Gilbert, to return.

"There is still a chapter of Elena's story left to be told. I'll take Dobrev for whatever she's willing to do to tell that story," she told TVLine.

This rumor comes on the heel of series star Ian Somerhalder who announced at a fan convention in Nashville that the show will more likely to close shop after Season 8.

This further heightened the talks about Elena's reappearance. In fact, a source from Hollywood Life claimed that the 27-year-old star is definitely on board with the idea of coming back for TVD.

"She is 10,000 percent coming back," the media outlet quoted the source as saying.

The Bulgarian Canadian actress is currently tied to an upcoming big screen movie with Vin Diesel "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" which premieres on theaters by 2017.

For the meantime, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 is set to air this week with a brand new episode titled "One Way or Another."

According to The Futon Critic, Damon (Somerhalder) and Alaric (Matt Davis) will head down to Memphis to hunt down an escaped vampire, who holds the key to saving Stefan (Paul Wesley).

The goal, however, will meet some setbacks when Alaric reveals his reluctance to revert to his old vampire hunting ways.

In another development, Bonnie (Kat Graham) makes friends with a young woman named Virginia (guest star Aisha Duran) at the psych ward. The latter happens to know some valuable information about why the Armory is going after her. Enzo (Michael Malarkey), meanwhile, decides to take the matters into his own hands when he heard some news from Rayna (Leslie-Anne Huff).

Episode 18 "One Way or Another" premieres this Friday, Apr. 15 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
