'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' News: New Update Provides Support for 4K Resolution on PlayStation 4 Pro

The new 1.50 patch update of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" allows the game to be played on the new PlayStation 4 Pro with 4K quality resolution.

According to the official announcement, the upgrade patch is basically allowing "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" to be played on the PlayStation 4 Pro console with a 4K quality resolution.

"When playing the game on a PS4™ Pro system, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and all its additional content feature support for 4K resolution and a slight boost to performance," the post reads.

However, Time reports that the game won't really appear with native 4K quality on the PlayStation 4 Pro because the console hasn't allowed any game to play with that kind of resolution so far.

"The Witcher 3" does appear on the PlayStation 4 Pro with a resolution just as good as 4K quality. It's possible that the game runs on a 1800p or 3200-by-1800 pixels, which is a common middle ground used along with special techniques to achieve a resolution quality similar to the 4K.

However, the PC version might have better resolution than the PlayStation 4 Pro version. The native 4K resolution can be achieved on the PC version by using the Nvidia FTX1080 graphics card.

Aside from the PlayStation 4 Pro support, the new update may not have brought anything substantial to "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." Although the announcement talks of "improved stability," that just might be referring to the improved resolution.

Meanwhile, there could also be an Xbox One X update coming soon. CD Projekt Red's senior public relations manager Radek Adam Grabowski shared with Eurogamer previously that there will be a technical update for both PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.

With the update for PlayStation 4 Pro out, followers of the game are anticipating for the patch improvements for the Xbox One X.

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is available on Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 4 Pro.
