'Thor: Ragnarok' Plot Details, Release Date: Thor and Jane Already Broke Up

The upcoming movie "Thor: Ragnarok" recently released a few teaser photos, and fans are asking where Thor's girlfriend, Jane Foster, is.

Although it is known that actress Natalie Portman won't be coming back as Jane for "Thor: Ragnarok," the reason has just been revealed by actor Chis Hemsworth, who plays Thor.

Portman already told Wall Street Journal last summer that as far as future "Thor" films are concerned, she's already done.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hemsworth explained that Thor and Jane have actually broken up, and most probably during or after the events of "Thor: The Dark World."

This tidbit was confirmed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who also teased that the hero's encounter with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) will be a big flip from Foster.

In addition, Feige reveals that they wanted Thor to be in a relationship with somebody who is his equal or somehow, in some ways, his superior.

Although Valkyrie might be a potential love interest for Thor, this does not mean that the two are really going to get together well.

"Valkyrie is trying to not embrace any sort of Asgardian heritage that she has. Thor thinks maybe that will create a bond between them and, on the contrary, she wants to forget it all entirely," Feige said, according to EW.

Meanwhile, Hemsworth also shared that Thor is busy "exploring the universe, still trying to police it and control the mayhem." He adds that the character enjoys being a drifter and being "a solo cowboy out there."

"Thor: Ragnarok" is set to premiere on Oct. 26 and 27 in Australia and the United Kingdom, respectively, while its U.S. release will be on Nov. 3.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie is based on the events after "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and shows Thor up against an old ally, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Thor needs to return to Asgard to save it from the new villain, Hela (Cate Blanchett), and the incoming Ragnarok.
