Tokyo Game Show 2017: Japan Studio VR Music Announced

A new virtual reality experience was revealed during Sony's press conference at the Tokyo Game Show 2017. It was just one of the few big announcements made by Sony at the annual expo.

The upcoming Japan Studio VR Music Festival will feature various franchises from Sony Japan Studio, the first-party video game production and development arm of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

These include Ape Escape, LocoRoco, Patapon, and Gravity Rush and Toro which can be experienced in game-like environments or concert halls. Sony also announced the news via Twitter along with a promo image.

The new VR experience was released in Japan this week. There is no word as of yet if it will be available outside Japan, however.

Aside from the Japan Studio VR Music Festival, Sony also unveiled a new game from Square Enix called "Left Alive." The survival action shooter will be set in a dark and gritty futuristic world directed by Armored Core director Toshifumi Nabeshima and features character designs by Metal Gear character designer Yoji Shinkawa.

Release details for Capcom's upcoming action role-playing game "Monster Hunter World" was also announced at the press conference. Capcom has unveiled a number of special editions, pre-order bonuses and even a special Monster Hunter-themed PlayStation 4 Pro console.

It was also announced that "Final Fantasy IX" and "Dragon's Crown Pro" will make their way to the PlayStation 4. New footage was also shown for Shadow of the Colossus and "Monster Hunter World" along with a remastered version of "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner" complete with VR support.

There is also the cat collecting mobile sim "Neko Atsume" from Hit Point which is set to arrive on the PlayStation VR next year. The game allows users to collect various virtual cats in a cute cartoon environment.
