Verizon FiOS TV Gift and Big Rewards to Xbox Kinect Customers

Verizon FiOS announced that its customers would be able to enjoy access to a number of television channels through their Xbox 360 systems.

The service will only be available to those with the year-round Gold membership, and they will of course need to be customers of the Verizon Internet and TV package.

Now, customers will be able to use the latest Kinect technology to control their TVs, and can flip through channels using voice and motion.

The package will include 26 different channels, and the application will be available starting December, according to C-Net News. Furthermore, a blog on the official Verizon website revealed that new customers will also get the “Xbox Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary” game if they take advantage of the offer before Jan. 21.

Additionally, customers who vote through Facebook or Twitter for the Machinima’s Inside Gaming Awards on Dec. 9, will be entered into sweepstakes that promises a two-year Verizon FiOS subscription service, DVR, 40,000 Microsoft points and a Kinect for the winners.

Even more prizes include 4,000 points to five different winners each day until Dec. 8.

Eric Bruno, a vice president at Verizon, released a statement that revealed the company’s vision.

"Joining forces with Microsoft and Xbox, we are breaking the boundaries between TV and gaming, and furthering the borderless lifestyle Verizon customers enjoy with our new offers and services. We are putting the controls in our customers' hands, and giving them the ability to watch TV on another dynamic device that they can control with voice and gesture commands,” said Bruno.

The initiative is seen as an attempt to integrate the Xbox into all aspects of home entertainment, and not only gaming. The list of available channels has not been released, but it promised to include the biggest cable selections.
