Fox has finally unveiled the upcoming Season 2 of its small screen masterpiece, "Wayward Pines" with a new featurette that reveals a handful of details about the show's new installment.

The show, which was based on Blake Crouch's novels of the same name, was originally intended to run only for 10 episodes with a solid beginning, middle and end. In the teaser, Crouch, who also served as executive producer, explained how they were able to continue the story.

We were blown away from the reception we had from the audience and critics — that wasn't enough to make us want to do a second season. M. Night Shymalan and I made this pact that we'll only do it if we come up with something that we think is truly great," he said in the video.

As divulged in the clip, which can be seen below, Season 2 will pick up in the wake of the shocking events in Season 1 which saw the demise of Matt Dillon's Ethan Burke. The first generation of the academy graduates has already taken control of the town. It looks like the whole place is in a lockdown under a martial law.

The second chapter, which will also be consisting of 10 parts, will shed light on Dr. Theo Yedlin's (Jason Patric) struggle in the midst of the rebellion against the First Generation. The character is a new resident of the titular town who had recently awaken from a suspended animation. He goes around, trying to understand more about the mysterious town.

"Wayward Pines" Season 2, which premieres this May 25, will also be featuring the acts of two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou who will play the role of C.J. Mitchum, the town historian whose knowledge can provide a connection between the current times and the previous world which was inhabited by human beings. Season 1 cast members including Carla Gugino (Kate), Melissa Leo (Pam) and Charlie Tahan (Charlie) will also be appearing in a limited capacity.
