The executive producer of the series, M. Night Shymalan, previously spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how the character development in "Wayward Pines" Season 2.
"I would say that because every character's waking up, they're having their own arc, so you get to watch all these characters go through initiation in their own way," he revealed. "Even if you know or don't know [the secret to Wayward Pines], both sides are getting information in a fresh way, and a bunch of old characters keep coming in and out."

Titled "The Doctor Is In," the previous episode of "Wayward Pines" Season 2 showed tension between Higgins and Yedlin. The conflict between the two remain a big part in the narrative of the series. While this is expected to continue in the upcoming episode, fans will have the chance to learn more about the people of Wayward Pines.
One of the mysterious characters of "Wayward Pines" is Jason Higgins, who is not as explored as the other characters. However, it was confirmed that this will soon change. The upcoming episode of "Wayward Pines" Season 2 is expected to shed more light on Higgins.
According to Carter Matt, the new episode of the hit series will focus on the life of Higgins. Fans will learn more about his present and past life in the episode titled "Once Upon A Time In Wayward Pines." The episode is will shed a light on how Higgins claimed power in the little town. In addition, another character will be explored in the upcoming episode.
Theo will also be in the center of the new episode, revealing how he became a significant character in Wayward Pines. The synopsis on Carter Matt stated:
"In a series of flashbacks, we learn how and why Jason Higgins was raised to be the leader of the first generation and favored child of Wayward Pines. Meanwhile, Nurse Pam (guest star Melissa Leo) resurfaces and becomes a lethal threat to the town, and Theo continues to dig deeper into why he was specifically chosen to be part of the population of Wayward Pines."
