'Wicked City' spoilers: Ed Westwick to play a serial killer

ABC's "Wicked City" is the latest crime anthology series to hit the small screen. The forthcoming show will focus on two LAPD detectives as they look for a pair of serial killers ala Bonnie and Clyde, who have been terrorizing the Sunset Strip.

The new series will star actor Ed Westwick from "Gossip Girl" as Kent Grainger, the terrible Sunset Strip killer. Actress Erika Christensen from "Parenthood" plays Betty Smith, a nurse and a single mother who has a relationship with Kent. Actor Jeremy Sisto plays Jack Roth, an experienced homicide detective who was brought in to take the lead on the case.

Actress Taissa Farmiga plays Karen McClaren, a Berkeley graduate and an aspiring journalist who takes a job working with Diver. Actor Gabriel Luna plays Paco Contreras, Jack's partner who has just been transferred and struggles to fit in with the unit. Actress Karolina Wydra plays Dianne Gibbons, a cop working undercover as a barmaid on the strip. Actor Evan Ross plays Diver Hawkes, a crime scene paparazzo who works with Karen. The show already has a three-year plan according to lead actress Erika Christensen. "It's a really cool concept. I'm only going to be a part of the first season, but the first three seasons take place in 1982 and then 1974 and then 1992 or '93 [during] the L.A. riots. And it's following these detectives through their lives at different points, so the case that they're on in the first season is us, Kent and Betty," she said.
"She's rather damaged and really finds a deep connection with Kent and also just falls madly in love with him. And so she and he discover that she's capable of all kinds of things she had no idea she was capable of," she added.

The upcoming series has yet to air, but it has already got fans very excited. The show has a "Fifty Shades of Grey" type vibe as Kent will remind viewers of Christian because of the fact that they both like to be in control and have weird needs. The show will also give the viewers something to be excited about after the network canceled "Revenge" and "Forever."

In the trailer for the upcoming series, the television critics got a glimpse of what's to come. The trailer shows a grisly murder of a woman in a car while performing oral sex, and that's just the first five minutes of the show. ABC's chief Paul Lee talked about the importance of watching the show beyond its gruesome first moments. "It's the power play between them that's fascinating... you're drawn to them, you actually root for them, yet you're also repulsed by them," he said.

Wicked City will premiere on Oct. 27 on ABC.
