With its new Wii U console on the way, Nintendo is still making some interesting upgrades to its networks by integrating Hulu Plus streaming for the Wii and 3DS.

Netflix has been available on the Wii for quite some time now, but now with a new announcement made by Nintendo, Hulu Plus which specializes in television shows will soon be available on both the Wii and handheld 3DS.

Nintendo has not confirmed the exact date this will happen, but the video game giant did promise Hulu Plus will be available on its consoles by the end of this year.

The Wii U is expected to be released around Easter time next year.

But in the meantime, Nintendo is using Hulu Plus to attract more customers for this holiday season and make itself valid competition for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which are still going strong since their releases in 2006.

Hulu Plus service costs $7.99 per month and streams shows from television networks such as ABC, NBC, Fox, Comedy Central and many more.

Some of its users criticize it for having a limited selection, but new content is added to the service on a consistent basis.

Nintendo was slow to the draw when it came to streaming on the Wii.

PS3 and Xbox 360 have been making these services available on their networks for a much longer amount of time.

The 3DS is currently ahead of PlayStation's newest portable offering with the PS Vita by making Hulu Plus and Netflix available this year.

The PS Vita has not allowed for any third party streaming just yet.

But eventually these services should be available on its networks.

Hulu Plus and Netflix should greatly assist Nintendo in moving 3DS units.
