'Under the Dome' Season 4 Renewed or Canceled? Will There Be a New Season of Hit Show?
Spoilers ahead! The fate of the science-fiction drama series "Under the Dome" is still unknown. The series is on its third season, which is set to end on Sept. 10. But if the recently concluded Television Critics Association press tour is any indication, the network behind the series, CBS, may not be ready to let the series go just yet.
According to a report in TV.com, network executives are "not ruling out" that they will bring back another season of the series.
Speaking at the TCA press tour, Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment Chairman said, "The dome is coming down at the end of this season, but that opens up a host of other storytelling opportunities." She also said that the network has yet to decide on the series' fate.
She also cited that "Under the Dome" has been one of the better-performing scripted shows for the summer for the network.
In another report in Cinema Blend, the report speculated on where the series will likely go if indeed the dome does go down.
According to the report, there will be major events that will be taking place towards the end of the season, which will happen after the dome goes down. The creative team behind the show can take several story paths and this would depend entirely on whether season 3 will be the last season or not.
Despite Tassler's announcement about the show being a good performer among CBS' summer offerings, one cannot deny that the show's ratings have been dropping in the past two seasons.
The show was supposed to be a "limited series adaptation" of Stephen King's "Under the Dome." It follows the story of a small town called Chester's Mill and its residents, who find themselves trapped under a "massive, transparent, seemingly indestructible dome," cutting them off from contact with the rest of the world.
