WWE 2016 Rumors and News: The Miz's Contract Update; Returning to Raw?

The Miz has had a long run with the WWE, but it had not always been a smooth ride for him. The 35-year-old superstar entered the company through the reality show Tough Enough, and had drawn a lot of flack for his "soft" in-ring style, especially in recent events.

To his credit, gone were the days of his disappointing title runs, as he is currently being praised for restoring the relevance of the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown Live. His altercations with Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan may have boosted his villainous character. However, it may also cost him his place in the blue brand.

Rumor has it that WWE is considering a trade that would put The Miz back on Raw. A host of other superstars could use a change of scenery as well.

Mean streak

Last month, The Miz blurred reality and sports entertainment with a strong statement on Talking Smack, the interview show directly after SmackDown Live. He was being interviewed with general manager Daniel Bryan, when the latter accused him of being "soft" in the ring, choosing less-risky moves to avoid injury.

The Miz fired back by saying he had been in WWE day in and day out, and had never been sidelined by injury—unlike Bryan, whose severe concussions forced him to retire early this year. Bryan walked out of the segment, but The Miz was not finished.

At Backlash 2016, after being shot down by Bryan regarding contract negotiations, The Miz insulted Bryan by telling him he was going to do what the latter could not do anymore. He then went on to win his title defense against Ziggler.

Contract troubles

Daniel Bryan originally tweeted that The Miz's requested terms were unrealistic. For his part, The Miz had tweeted that if SmackDown did not want him, they should ship him to Raw.

Could fans be seeing The Miz back on Raw? He could potentially be traded for Rusev who can compensate for his heel presence and would replace The Miz's IC title with the United States Championship.

However, WWE reported that The Miz's contract had been negotiated and signed, keeping the champion and his wife-slash-manager Maryse Ouellet in the blue brand. However other superstars could use the opportunity to move.

Sami Zayn is currently stuck in a feud with WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens, but with the latter embroiled in a rivalry with Seth Rollins, Zayn could be better off on the smaller SmackDown roster. The same could be said for Cesaro.
