X6 And X6 Plus News: Vivo Unveils Two New Phablets
Chinese phone manufacturer Vivo has officially unveiled its newest phablets, the X6 and the X6 Plus. Both devices have been subject to numerous leaks and rumors the past few months. This recent announcement makes both phones official. According to a Tech Times report, the more compact X6 will be the first one to be available on December 6.
The Vivo X6 is the smaller of the two devices with a screen size of 5.2 inches. The Vivo X6 Plus has a 5.7 inch screen. Both phones however have the same Super AMOLED screens with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution. The X6 has better pixel density at 424ppi versus the 386ppi of the bigger X6 Plus.
The compact X6 is also the thinner one of the two devices with only 6.56mm thickness. The report cites that because of this design choice, Vivo needed to compromise on the battery size.
Both devices will be powered by an octa-core processor MediaTek MT-6752 which runs at 1.7 GHz, paired with 4 GB of RAM. The difference in memory specs has to do with the internal storage available for each device. The bigger X6 Plus offers 64 GB compared to the X6's 32 GB. Expandable storage support is available via a microSD card slot.
Both phablets offer a premium look and feel because of the aluminium-magnesium alloy that the device is made of. Camera-wise, the two phones have the same specs: a 13 megapixel rear camera and an 8 megapixel front camera.
Android 5.1 Lollipop is the operating system on board. The phones' security feature is fingerprint scanners that are found at the back of the device.
The X6 is powered by a 2,400 mAh battery compared to the 3,000 mAh of the X6 Plus. According to the report, the X6 Plus will also have a variant that has a bigger 4,000 mAh battery. All phones will be equipped with fast charging technology.
The Vivo X6 is priced at $390, while the X6 Plus (3,000 mAh variant) will sell for $469. The 4,000 mAh variant of the X6 Plus will cost around $500. Color variants will be rose gold, silver and gold.
