Xiaomi to Launch Selfie-Centric Smartphone in India Next Month

It seems Xiaomi is bent on increasing its reach in India, even just weeks after releasing its new series of smartphones in the country.

According to a report from IndiaToday, the Chinese electronics and software company is set to launch a brand new phone on Nov. 2. The device will be bannered by its selfie camera as seen on the teaser image released by the company. The image featured the hashtag #YourBestSelfie below a lightning symbol, which could point to the device's fast-charging capabilities.

Furthermore, Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director of Xiaomi India, also took to Twitter and used the same hashtag. His post also came with a selfie of him doing a thumbs-up sign, and behind him is a table full of items, mostly comprised of stuffed toys. The image also came with a message: "Multiple surprises planned for the launch of the BEST selfie smartphone. Hints on this table. Any guess?"

Meanwhile, a report from Digit noted that this is the first time Xiaomi will launch a selfie-centric smartphone. This could likely mean that the company will finally launch the Mi Note series in the country. The smartphones under the series are known for their powerful cameras as well as fast-charging prowess, which perfectly match the clues that they used in their teaser.

The Mi Note 3 comes in with a 5.5-inch full HD display with 6 GB of RAM. It also runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset and features a dual 12-megapixel rear camera setup, which is also found on the Mi 6 flagship smartphone of Xiaomi. The rear cameras come with a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom capabilities while the other sports a wide-angle lens.

In addition, it also comes with a 16-megapixel selfie camera featuring 2-micron pixel size and support for its 4.0 new beauty mode.
