Dallas Jenkins’ adaptation of Barbara Robinson’s beloved story has quickly become a modern Christmas classic. The Herdman kids, the “worst kids in the world,” crash a small-town church pageant and help the community rediscover the wonder of the Nativity. Funny, sweet and deeply moving, it’s a perfect early-Christmas family movie that sparks conversations about grace, humility and welcoming the outsider.

“Pageant” is a thoroughly Christian story that remains deeply relatable; it doesn’t shy away from centering its narrative on Jesus. The characters’ journey, especially that of the unruly Herdmans, reveals a path from cynicism and selfishness to redemption through grace, a narrative echoing the essence of the Christmas story itself.
