1. 'The Great Awakening' (Streaming now on Wonder Project via Prime Video)
As America marks its 250th anniversary, "The Great Awakening" explores the remarkable friendship between evangelist George Whitefield and Founding Father Benjamin Franklin, contending that America's political revolution was preceded by a spiritual one.
Produced by Sight & Sound and streaming exclusively on Wonder Project through Prime Video, the historical drama stars Jonathan Blair as Whitefield and John Paul Sneed as Franklin. The film emphasizes that true liberty begins not with governments, but with transformed hearts.
Director Joshua Enck told The Christian Post that the film seeks to inform audiences that, before the Revolution, "a revelation" came, highlighting themes of revival, unity and the Gospel.
“What this film really depicts is the biblical definition of liberty,” Enck said. “On the Liberty Bell, it says, ‘Proclaim liberty throughout all the land and to all the inhabitants thereof.’ I want that liberty to ring out over this nation once again in the hearts of men and women.”
