This week in Christian history: Nabeel Qureshi dies; John Calvin returns to Geneva
Nabeel Qureshi dies – Sept. 16, 2017

This week marks the anniversary of when Nabeel Qureshi, a former Muslim turned Christian apologist and author of Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus, died at age 34 from stomach cancer.
Born in California to Pakistani immigrants, Qureshi began considering Christianity in 2001 while a student at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and eventually converted years later.
Qureshi became a speaker and writer with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, working with the apologetics group and its namesake leader even after receiving his cancer diagnosis.
Days before his death, Qureshi released an update from his hospital bed in which he stated that “as you consider my ministry, I hope it leaves a legacy of love, of peace, of truth, of caring for one another.”
“I am contending for healing. I am asking God to heal. I believe with all my heart that God has the power to heal in the blink of an eye,” he said.
“But, my faith in God isn't shaken by whether or not He will heal me. I will believe in God no matter what. I trust him. He is sovereign and I love him.”
