'One Bread, One Body'

John Foley, a member of the Society of Jesus, wrote “One Bread, One Body” in 1978, belonging to a group of Catholic composers known as the “St. Louis Jesuits.”

“The ‘St Louis Jesuits’ … flourished in the 1970s and '80s and … wrote and performed, using guitars, in styles akin to folk music,” explained an entry on the Church of Scotland’s website.

“This hymn draws on 1 Corinthians 10:16-17, Galatians 3:28, and the Didache, an early (first or second century) treatise on ethics, baptism, eucharist, and church organization.”
