'Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon'– Dec. 5

Lastly, the Erwin Brothers are releasing a documentary about the faith journey of legendary musician Johnny Cash, “Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon.”

This film sheds a light on the music legend's stardom, his depths of addiction and how he looked to the saving grace of Jesus for redemption.

“Arguably among America's greatest ever entertainers, the late Johnny Cash rode his talent to the top of the music world, selling an estimated 90 million records, winning nearly 40 awards and being inducted into half a dozen music halls of fame. His 50-plus year career, however, also took him from the dizzying heights of professional acclaim to the depths of drug addiction and alcohol abuse, and the upcoming documentary, 'Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon,' will follow the Arkansas native's journey,” the synopsis revealed.

The Erwin brothers documentary is based on a book by the same title from Pastor Greg Laurie. Featured in the film is never-before-heard interviews of Cash sharing of his Christian faith. 

"There's no lonelier place on Earth for a man to be than separated from God," Cash is heard saying.

The Redemption of an American Icon” shows Cash meeting with the late Rev. Billy Graham and features interviews with Cash's family members along with celebrities such as Alice Cooper, Sheryl Crow, Tim McGraw and Wynonna Judd, and Pastor Laurie.

“The Redemption of an American Icon” will have a three-day limited release beginning Dec. 5.
