An estimated 11 million people continue to be affected by the food crisis in East Africa that has brought together relief efforts from Christian humanitarian agencies and government bodies worldwide.

U.K.-based Christian aid agency Tearfund launched an alert for the food crisis in the Horn of Africa this week and plans to scale up its response in the affected region including North and East Kenya, Somalia, southern Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Djibouti.

Although the food crisis has been caused by drought in the region, security concerns among other problems have added to the difficulties in distributing aid.
