3 things to know about the latest allegations against Eric Swalwell

3. Authorities are investigating accusations against Swalwell

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced last week that it has opened an investigation into Drewes’ allegation that Swalwell sexually assaulted her in 2018.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said that the Sex Crimes Division is working with law enforcement as the investigation continues.

“When and if a case is presented, seasoned prosecutors will review the facts and evidence to determine whether there is sufficient evidence for charges to be filed,” Hochman said. “When a filing decision is made, we will ensure the public is informed.”

In an interview published this week with California Politics 360, Drewes’ attorney, Lisa Bloom, said her client has additional evidence that has not yet been revealed.

“She has some additional evidence she needs to get out of a storage unit, there’s some additional witness names, people she talked to after the incident,” Bloom said. “We are fully cooperating with the sheriff’s investigation.”
