4 key primary election results: JFK's grandson loses, Democratic Socialists win

From Democratic Socialists scoring major wins in New York City to Trump-backed candidates flexing their political muscle, Tuesday's primary elections delivered several surprises that could shape this year's midterm races.

At the center of Tuesday’s races were a series of congressional primaries in New York City, the largest city in the U.S. with a population larger than that of each of the three other states — Maryland, Utah and South Carolina — that held primaries or runoffs Tuesday. 

The contests also featured a former president's grandson and a prominent Trump critic amid a series of high-stakes congressional battles that drew national attention.
