Christians nationwide are reacting to the third brazen attempted assassination of President Donald Trump’s life that unfolded Saturday night as the commander in chief and members of his administration attended the annual White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner halted by gunfire that echoed inside the Washington Hilton hotel.

Some attendees reported hearing the gunfire as a succession of four loud noises, "boom, boom, boom, boom," while others said they heard plates crashing as security and Secret Service agents ordered everyone to duck under their tables as Vice President JD Vance, the president and first lady Melania Trump were rushed from the dais.

The shooter, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California, wrote a manifesto sent to family members before the attack in which he described himself as a "Friendly Federal Assassin" and said he planned to target members of the Trump administration.

Allen also expressed anti-Christian sentiments in the manifesto, the president said in an interview with CBS' "60 Minutes."

"He was a Christian believer, and then he became anti-Christian, and he had a lot of change," Trump said. "He was a pretty sick guy."
