4. Most of Trump’s endorsed candidates win their primaries but some fall short

As has become customary ahead of Republican primaries, Trump issued a series of endorsements of his preferred candidates on Truth Social. Several of his favored candidates won their respective primaries. Trump-endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., won the Republican primary for governor while every sitting lawmaker endorsed by the president won renomination.

While Trump-endorsed Sydney Gruters won the Republican nomination in the open U.S. House seat in Florida’s 16th Congressional District, another Republican candidate for an open House seat backed by the president did not achieve the same level of luck.

Trump-endorsed Catalina Lauf, running for the House seat Donalds left behind to run for governor, came in second place in the race to succeed him. Unofficial results show Lauf taking 22% of the vote, finishing behind winner Jim Schwartzel’s 29.1%.

Similarly, in Wyoming, Trump saw his preferred candidate for one of the state’s major statewide races win the Republican primary as Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo., won the GOP primary for U.S. Senate. However, Trump’s endorsed candidate in the gubernatorial race, Megan Degenfelder, came up short.

Unofficial results from the Wyoming Republican gubernatorial primary show Degenfelder taking 29.7%. The winner of the Republican primary, Eric Barlow, captured 45.1% of the vote and carried every county in the state.
