The Public Religion Research Institute has released its 2021 American Values Survey that asked thousands of Americans for their views on issues of cultural and religious significance as well as their opinions on issues at the forefront of American political debate.

While the survey revealed vast differences in opinions among Americans based on differing political, ethnic and religious backgrounds, some opinions shown in the study were held by majorities of all groups. The survey, conducted between Sept. 16 and Sept. 29, is based on responses from 2,508 adults living in all 50 states.

Here are five takeaways from the 2021 American Values Survey.
