50 Cent Erin Andrews in Awkward Incident as Danica Patrick Takes 8th at Daytona 500 (VIDEO)

50 Cent and Erin Andrews were left in an embarrassing exchange in the build up to the Daytona 500 when the rapper greeted Andrews on the pit road.

50 Cent seemed delighted to meet the Andrews as she was providing coverage for the Daytona 500 on Sunday. He seemingly tried to greet her with a kiss, however, as he moved in Andrews turned her head, resulting in an awkward moment for the pair.

Some have said the embarrassing incident was reminiscent of Joe Namath's awkward exchange with Suzy Kolber.

After the incident 50 Cent did not disappear but continued to follow Andrews around as she searched for Danica Patrick. She was however unable to find Patrick and so returned the commentary back to the studio analysts.

But the incident caught a lot of attention on social media websites and blogs as hundreds commented on the awkward incident, with many suggesting Andrews had rejected 50 Cents attempt to plant a kiss.

One post stated, "50 Cent getting all creepy on Erin Andrews. Well that was awkward."

However, at the end of the day Patrick, who in her first full season in the Sprint Cup, did not become the first woman to win a Nascar race.

The 55th Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway was eventually won by five-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, who claimed victory after a late caution.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished in second place to send a clear message of his intentions for the season, and Patrick could only manage to finish in eighth place.

After capturing his second Daytona 500 victory of his career, Johnson said from victory lane: "Man, this race car, this Lowe's Chevrolet, was so good. I could really stay up front all day long, and I had a lot of confidence those final few laps leading the train. I knew just how fast this car was."
