The Rev. Gabriel Salguero, president of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition, addressed the Trump v. Barbara decision in a statement Tuesday, calling it "a reaffirmation of the enduring promise of America" that "the blessings of liberty belong not only to us, but also to our posterity."
“We pray that this moment renews our nation’s commitment to both the rule of law and the God-given dignity of every child, while reminding us that our strength has always come from welcoming those who seek to build better lives and contribute to the flourishing of our great republic,” Salguero said. “As Christians, we believe every person bears the image of God and possesses an inherent dignity that no government can take away.”
“As Americans, we believe the Constitution protects equal citizenship without regard to race, ethnicity, or the immigration status of one’s parents,” Salguero continued. “Those principles are not in conflict – they reinforce one another.”
