'Congratulations President Xi': 7 reactions to Supreme Court's birthright citizenship decision

7. Sen. James Lankford
Lankford, a Republican Southern Baptist from Oklahoma, released a statement Tuesday saying he does not agree with the court's ruling "to give American citizenship to individuals whose families intentionally violated the law."
"The divided decision in the court reminds us again of the division in our nation," Lankford said. "However, Americans honor our courts even when we disagree."
During a local news interview, Lankford said that there are many people across the U.S. that believe that a person who is illegally present in the country shouldn't be able to "hand citizenship to their children."
"I would fully expect constitutional work will happen around the country to deal with an amendment to the Constitution," he said.
“Now that the Supreme Court has issued its decision regarding birthright citizenship, we encourage Congress to work with the White House to finally bring this issue to closure in our generation through comprehensive immigration reform.
