7 Important Scriptures About Jealousy and Envy

Suffering From Church Envy?

We all know how easy it is for us to get jealous of someone, even when our intentions are good. It is very easy for us to fall into jealousy in our society, especially when others around us are more fortunate. But, it is important for us to realize what is most important in our lives and what matters most.

Social media can be something where people have access and an inside look at other people's lives. This is a perfect opportunity for us to smile for them, instead of getting jealous towards them.

There are several verses that deal with this topic because when we fall into jealousy, we often spiral down in our spiritual life.

Below are 7 Bible verses about jealousy:

Song of Solomon 8:6 - Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the LORD.

1Corinthians 13:4 - Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it his not arrogant.

Philippians 2:3 - Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

James 3:14-15 - But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.

Psalm 37:1-3 - Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.

James 3:16 - For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.

Proverbs 14:30 - A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.
