6. Nigeria: Knock-outs

Fireworks crackle to announce Christmas in Nigeria. From Christmas Eve all through Christmas Day, Nigerian Christians set off firecrackers and fireworks. Some families set off the fireworks on video in a special Christmas ceremony. Often, Nigerian children prank adults by setting off firecrackers by surprise.

The sound of Christmas fireworks in Nigeria can sometimes be deafening. Recently, police have strengthened regulations against fireworks to increase public safety.
