Hopefully the rumors that have been circulating during the fall about Hewlett Packard's plans for a final batch of $99 TouchPads won't turn into another Harold Camping affair.
But as of now rumors persist that more HP TouchPads will be appearing before the end of the month. The move is intended by HP to alleviate excess stocks of chargers, docks, cases, keyboards and other accessories.
Analysts say that HP could be making 200,000 new TouchPads available.
However, it is doubtful that 200,000 new tablets will be enough to satisfy demand for the HP TouchPad after the waves it made last summer with its $99 fire sale. TouchPad sold out across North America in a matter of days, and created an extraordinary reaction by people.
If your retailer doesn't sport the $99 price tag, don't blame HP. The price for new issue of HP TouchPads will be subject to retailer discretion. Each retailer will manage their own policy regarding pricing and price matching.
Questions? Ask your local retailer. Said HP, “Please contact the local retailer of your choice to see what their current position is.”
Have no fear, and have patience. HP is building the anticipation of their coming announcement of their specific plans. The HP Touchpad is on the way. We hope!
