'American Horror Story' Season 7 Spoilers, News: Plot Reveal Coming in Spring of 2017

"American Horror Story" season 6 generated an impressive amount of hype as Ryan Murphy, the show's creator, kept the lid on the story tight until the first episode began airing. Likewise, this new season, details on season 7, once a slow trickle last year, have dried up. So far all that are somewhat confirmed for the new episodes are two things. First is Murphy's revelation last year that the upcoming season will be connected to season 4, "Freak Show." The second, and last, is the time period. "It's a modern-day story. That's all I'm going to say" was all that the screenwriter would let slip.

In what was an unexpected turn last year, Murphy had actually started revealing bits of information here and there on the story direction that the new season 7 would take. The typically tight-lipped director has outlined his plans for "American Horror Story" this 2017. "Next year, we will be going back to some Freak Show characters, deeper histories and mythologies. So we're sort of still exploring Season 4 in Season 7," he said. After that, however, no more hints were made available.

Hopefully not for long. Murphy did commit to a reveal more in a conference call last year. In a feature by TVLine, the show creator made the announcement that they will reveal the premise in the spring of this year. "We're not doing a secrecy thing, but does have a big hook behind it." Murphy said, referring to a few returning "Freak Show" characters.

Murphy has recently divulged that two show regulars will be returning for season seven. In an NME report, Murphy announced at the Television Critics Association's press tour that Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will be rejoining the series. So far no other cast members have been announced. Speculations have circulated on whether regular lead Jessica Lange will make an appearance.

The new season has been confirmed for spring this year. Two more seasons are already on the schedule for 2018 and 2019, for a total of nine seasons of "American Horror Story."
