Amy Winehouse Dead at 27: MTV to Show Tribute Special Tomorrow Night

MTV will air a tribute special to the life and career of the recently deceased singer Amy Winehouse Wednesday night at 6:30pm E.T. according to its website.

The special will feature a rarely seen performance filmed in MTV’s Times Square studios as part of its “45th at Night” live series in 2007; a performance which took place just before Winehouse rose to superstardom in the U.S.

The set features Winehouse performing with her Back to Black backup band, the Dap Kings, delivering soulful renditions of her hits such as ‘Rehab,’ ‘Back to Black,’ ‘Me and Mr Jones,’ and ‘You Know I’m No Good’.

The special will also feature a collaboration between Winehouse and rapper Mos Def on the song ‘Love is a Losing Game.’

The sales of her 2006 album ‘Back to Black’ skyrocketed this week after her death on Saturday, making it the second-best selling album this week according to Music Week.

Her debut album “Frank” had a boost in sales also making it the 11th bestselling album this week.

Fans have flocked to buy her music since her death, with many wondering whether any further releases will be forthcoming with her previously unreleased music created prior to her death.

According to Winehouse just may join the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Tupac Shakur and Kurt Cobain who all enjoyed success with their posthumous releases. Winehouse had reportedly been working on a follow up to her 2007 ‘Back to Black’ album for the past two years.

But her U.S. publicist told MTV on Sunday, ‘There is no information on any new music at this time.”
