In a post entitled "Special Edition Best Dressed: The 2013 Met Gala," the leading fashion publication shared a list of its "best dressed women (and men) at the 2013 Met Gala." The Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala was held in New York on May 6 and Kardashian attended with boyfriend Kanye West.

While the "Mercy" rapper, who wore a black and white Givency tuxedo, made the cut, Kardashian, who wore a floor length gloved floral gown, did not.

The reality TV personality, who rose to stardom in 2007 following the release of her adult film, appears in the same photograph holding West's hand, but she was evidently cropped out, leaving only a glimpse of her Riccardo Tisci dress and fingers.

"I saw plenty of pics of Kanye alone!!! Vogue mag deliberately picked 1 of them together just to crop it and send kim a message I think. #cold," Peter tweeted.

"I feel so sorry for Kim. She was so excited to go and this is the thanks she gets? Wot she ever done to Vogue, she don't deserve this," Kate tweeted.

"Oh c'mon Kim Kardashian did not look that bad! Vogue's snub was plain rude and unnecessary. I don't see anyone else being cropped," Blondey tweeted.

The incident has fueled recurring claims that Vogue Editor Anna Wintour detests Kardashian, 31. While the pregnant E! network personality was able to score her first ever Met Gala invite through West, reports claim she had previously banned from the exclusive event.

"Anna hates Kim! Why would she be invited to the event? It is all the biggest stars in the world and Kim doesn't fit that bill at all," a source told Radar Online prior to the 2012 Met gala.

"The Met Gala is $25,000 a ticket, but Kim can't even buy her way in, Anna Wintour does NOT want her there!" the source added.

While fans are baffled that Kardashian did not make Vogue's "Best Dressed" list, her critics are not surprised. The reality TV personality received widespread criticism for her ensemble and a source claims West is embarrassed by the negative press.

"Kanye is annoyed, as the dress is by his best friend Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy, and he feels embarrassed that Kim is messing with a beautiful piece of art," a source told Life & Style magazine.

The Met Gala, considered by the fashion industry's elite as one of the biggest fashion events of the year, was hosted by Vogue magazine and this year's theme was "Punk: Chaos to Couture."

"[Kim] loved the dress just the way Riccardo designed it for her. His vision for her was a romantic Spanish theme with touches of boldness and punk," a source told Us magazine.
