Anne Hathaway Photos 'Devastating' at Les Miserables Premiere Incident

Anne Hathaway's photos at the Les Miserables premiere have left the actress saying the incident was "devastating."

Hathaway suffered the incident just hours after appearing on the "Late Show With David Letterman" where she wore a red dress.

The actress was getting out of her car at the Les Miserables premiere when she had trouble with her new long black taffeta Tom Ford gown she had decided to wear for the occasion.

A gang of paparazzi were of course waiting for the actress as she arrived and caught the incident on camera, with media describing it as a "Britney-type" incident after Brittney Spears' similar incident in the past.

The actress, who is usually known for her elegant and sophisticated look, told Vanity Fair writer Ingrid Sischy afterwards, "I was getting out of the car and my dress was so tight that I didn't realize it until I saw all the photographers' flashes." according to the New York Daily News.

"It was devastating," she added.

The incident comes shortly after Hathaway compared herself to her gay brother when talking about her buzz cut hair style featured in the Les Miserables film.

There is huge buzz surrounding the new film, with millions of fans around the world pre-prepared by the much-loved theater musical sensation, who cannot wait to see the film adaptation of the tale.

However, in the run up to the release many have taken to talking about Hathaway's drastic new look with her short hair.

Hathaway plays the character of Fantine, who is stricken down with a disease in the story. Most are used to seeing Hathaway with her long brunette hair style, but she looks drastically different with the new hair – to the extent the actress even herself describes herself as looking like her brother.

Hathaway, 30, has said, "When I eventually looked in the mirror I just thought I looked like my gay brother."

The actress was speaking to those attending a preview screening of the film on Friday, Nov. 23, in New York City.

Many are already lauding her performance playing Fantine in the movie. It has already been widely reported how Hathaway shed 25 pounds from her already-thin body to get into character as her prostitute character who is dying from tuberculosis.

Speaking to Vogue in its latest edition Hathaway has also said, "I had to be obsessive about it -- the idea was to look near death."

She basically admitted starving herself to shed the extra weight, saying that she had eaten just two thin squares of dried oatmeal paste per day for two weeks to drop the final 15 pounds.

Hathaway said, "Looking back on the whole experience -- and I don't judge it in any way -- it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that's who Fantine is anyway."

Les Miserables is directed by Tom Hopper, and will star Hathaway as well as Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen.
