'Assassin's Creed' and Two Others Get Added to Xbox One Backward Compatibility

Microsoft is churning out more and more Xbox 360 games that are now playable on the Xbox One. On Monday, the company added Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed," Capcom's "Dark Void," and Codemasters' "GRID 2" to its Xbox One Backward Compatibility library.

The latest addition now brings the total number of Xbox One backward compatible titles to more than 140. The game that started it all, "Assassin's Creed," joins "Assassin's Creed II." The sequel was one of eight other Ubisoft titles that was included in the 104 initial games that came with the launch of the service: "Beyond Good & Evil HD," "Might & Magic Clash of Heroes," "Prince of Persia," "Rayman 3 HD," "South Park: The Stick of Truth," "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas," "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2," and "Call of Juarez Gunslinger."

Meanwhile, joining another Capcom title "Age of Booty" is "Dark Void," a third-person shooter that was released in 2010. Created using Unreal Engine 3, the game leads players to enter a parallel world filled with hostile aliens. It has a three-star rating at the Xbox Marketplace.

The third addition is a more recent game, the 2013 racing title "GRID 2." It's the sequel to the BAFTA-award winning "Race Driver: GRID." The sequel itself also received nominations from a number of award-giving bodies including BAFTA and VGX.

The trio are the latest set of titles to hit the program. Last week, Microsoft released three games, "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night," "Alan Wake," and "PAC-MAN," while last month, it added six games, namely "Lego Batman," "Sam & Max," "Trials HD," "Alan Wake's American Nightmare," "Carcassonne," and "Geometry Wars Evolved."

The company is expected to add more and more games to its Xbox One Backward Compatibility catalog. It is currently working on "Call of Duty: Black Ops," "Skate 3," "Halo Wars," the "BioShock" series and more which should be released once they're ready.
