'Avengers 4' News, Release Date: New Casting Call Hints at Death of Superhero

Production for the fourth "Avengers" film is currently in full swing, but details about the upcoming film are still mostly under wraps. This week, a new casting call has been released, hinting at a possible death of one of the Marvel superheroes.

In the most recent casting call posted by Marvel, the studio is seeking extras for a funeral scene. Since many of the stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are already nearing the end of their contracts, there are speculations that at least one of them might die in the fourth and final "Avengers" film. Some fans believe that this is highly possible, considering the arrival of the extremely powerful villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) in "Avengers: Infinity War."

"Mourners: Looking for men and women over the age of 18, all ethnicities, to portray mourners. Especially looking for good character looks and expressive faces. This will be photo selected by the film's directors! Size restrictions: Men no larger than 44 coat, women dress size 0-8. FOR NEW FACES ONLY! You cannot have worked on this project previously, or be booked on upcoming days. NO EXCEPTIONS!" reads Marvel's casting call.

Because the call describes the demanded extras as "mourners," many fans were quick to speculate that the recent casting call could be an indication of a funeral that's set to arrive in the franchise soon. On the other hand, some speculated that it could be a scene where people mourn the loss of their loved ones on the streets following the destruction caused by Thanos. Whatever that is, one thing is certain — it is going to be a huge heartbreaking scene.

The "mourners" will reportedly be needed to shoot on Oct. 23 in Atlanta, where shooting for "Avengers 4" is currently ongoing.

"Avengers: Infinity War" will hit theaters on May 4, 2018. The fourth "Avengers" film will follow a year after on May 3, 2019.
