'Avengers 4' Rumors: Ty Simpkins to Debut as the New Iron Man
After it was reported that "Iron Man 3" child actor Ty Simpkins has joined the cast of "Avengers 4," rumors about the actor possibly becoming the new Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have become louder.
The cast listing for "Avengers 4" has been updated on the site of IMDb, and it has confirmed that Simpkins will be a part of the fourth "Avengers" movie.
While it is expected that the now-teen actor will reprise his role in "Iron Man 3" as Harley Keener, the little boy in the movie who became Tony Stark/Iron Man's (Robert Downey Jr.) sidekick, some can't help but suspect that earlier rumors saying that Simpkins will become the next iron-clad superhero in the MCU may not just be speculations after all.
To the uninitiated, Simpkin's name has been long rumored to be the next Iron Man in the MCU. In fact, according to earlier rumors, Marvel Studios has been waiting for the then-child actor to grow up so that he can become the next iron-clad superhero to star in "Iron Man 4."
Apart from resurrecting the rumors that Simpkins will be the next Iron Man, the actor's inclusion in "Avengers 4" has also bolstered the suspicions of many that Tony Stark may meet his demise in the MCU. Whether it will happen in "Avengers: Infinity War" or in the still unofficially titled "Avengers 4," it is believed more and more that the character will bow out of the MCU soon.
Whether Tony Stark will, indeed, die or not, there is no denying that Simpkins is one of the most clamored-for names to be the next iron-clad superhero in the MCU. While it's possible that his presence in "Avengers 4" is simply to assist Tony Stark once more, many believe that it may lead to a more relevant participation in the studio's shared universe.
This, however, can only be confirmed once "Avengers 4" hits the theaters on May 3, 2019.
