Backstage With 2004 Dove Winners

A line-up of young Christian artists were honored at the 35th GMA Music Awards, formerly known as "Dove Awards", on April 28 at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.

MercyMe won the coveted Group of the Year and Artist of the Year Awards. Their chart-topping song "Word of God Speak" from their album Spoken For garnered an award for Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year.

The winners and presenters went backstage for interviews.

Lead singer of MercyMe, Bart Millard, said he hopes MercyMe's success on mainstream radio causes other Christian groups to be bold with their music — without watering down their message.
