Barnes & Noble's Nook Color vs. Apple iPad 2: Which Tablet Reigns Supreme? (VIDEO)

Barnes and Noble's upcoming Nook Color tablet rivals some of the features for Apple's iPad 2.

The Nook Color tablet features a 7-inch VividView Color touch screen that shows more than 16 million colors.

The device runs on an 800 MHz Cortex-A8 processor, customized Android-based web browser and 8GB of internal storage. Android 2.2 is the main operating system for the tablet.

Barnes and Noble's content services make up the bulk of the books and magazines that can be viewed on the Nook Color.

Nook Color applications are also available for users.

"If you are looking for a full-color reading experience that makes the most of graphic media like magazines and children's books, the Nook Color delivers. And that makes it our Editors' Choice for color eBook readers,” said PC Mag regarding the soon-to-be-released tablet.

Barnes and Noble's Nook Color Tablet is available for $229 starting price.

Apple's iPad 2 currently stands at the top of the tablet market. It's screen size comes in at 9.7-inches, and the tablet has with a dual-core A5 chip, front- and rear-facing cameras, LED-backlight display, Smart Cover compatibility, iOS software system, iCloud, Wi-Fi and 3G capabilities.

Over 90,000 applications can be downloaded for the iPad 2 through Apple's App store.

The iPad 2 comes in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB versions. The prices for the tablets range from $499 to $829.
