'Bates Motel' Season 3 Release Date, Plot Spoilers: A&E Drama Moves Closer to Cinematic Roots 'Psycho'
Following the release of the latest teaser video for the third season of the hit drama thriller TV series "Bates Motel," A&E has unveiled today the promo poster for the show's upcoming chapter and it clearly features Norman going all out on being a "psycho."
A report from The Hollywood Reporter published the most recent promotion piece from the network where it portrays a contemplating Norma Louise Bates (Vera Farmiga) clutching her sinister-looking young son, Norman (Freddie Highmore).
Displayed clearly in the image is the tagline that reads "Psycho."
"It's the series' most overt reference to the 1960 film since the show premiered in 2013 — and it's unsettlingly on point," THR said.
The film pointed out by the media outlet is Alfred Hitchcock's classic thriller "Psycho." The rather low-budgeted flick earned critical acclaims including four Academy Award nominations such as Best Supporting Actress and Best Director award.
As for the TV adaptation, MoviewWeb.com indicated that the forthcoming season will focus "on the evolution of the Bates family" and will delve "into Norman's waning ability to stay in denial about what's happening to him and the lengths he will go to gain control of his fragile psyche."
Earlier reports also stated that a number of guest stars will be featured in the coming episodes of Season 3. Already confirmed are Tracy Spiridakos, who was shown in the December trailer, Joshua Leonard, Kevin Rahm, and Michael Hirst.
"Bates Motel" will kick off its premiere episode of Season 3 this March 9.
