'Bates Motel' Season 5 Spoilers, News: Executive Producer Previews Rihanna's Fate, Story

Rihanna fans may have to start watching "Bates Motel" as the show's upcoming final season will feature the "This Is What You Came For" singer as the famous Marion Crane. Fans who have watched Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" already know of Marion's fate, but will season 5 of the A&E series tread down the same path?

Janet Leigh's depiction of Marion Crane is nothing short of iconic. In 1960's "Psycho," Marion dies after being fatally stabbed to death by Norman Bates, then played by Anthony Perkins. It remains to be seen if Rihanna's Marion, who was first glimpsed in a season 5 trailer, will suffer the same gruesome death, and executive producer Kerry Ehrin is not offering hints.

"Is there a shower scene? All I can tell you is that we pulled 'Psycho' into 'Bates Motel,' not vice-versa," Ehrin told Entertainment Weekly. "That was always the goal and the fun of it. You will have to watch and find out!"

The media outlet also nabbed a couple of exclusive photos featuring the singer. One photo sees Rihanna driving while talking on her cellphone as heavy rain pours down from above. And another photo sees her with two suitcases wide open - one with her clothes and belongings, while the other with tons of cash.

The suitcase full of cash is not surprising since the original film saw Marion stealing money from her employer and running away with it. This is how she ends up at the Bates Motel in the first place. It is unknown if the series will start out the same way for Rihanna, but by the looks of it, it certainly seems that way. However, Ehrin has made it clear that her character is getting a modern update in terms of story.

"Marion is a woman written in the '50s by a guy. It was very much our goal to show you what's going on in her head to give her more complexity," Ehrin explained to EW. "Two different versions of the same story collide in a really explosive way."

"Bates Motel" season 5 will premiere on Feb. 20 at 10 p.m. EST on A&E.
