Batman Arkham Knight Prequel Comic Release Date: Series to Kick Off March 2015
To further solidify the story behind the supervillain whom the Dark Knight is slated to face off in the upcoming game from Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham Knight, DC Comics announced this weekend that they will be releasing a comic book series to serve as a prequel to the game.
According to DCComics.com, the prequel comic book series will follow the events of Rocksteady's Batman; Arkham City.
As stated, the story begins right after the events of Arkham City where Bruce Wayne is still recovering from his injuries. During this period, Gothamites assumed that the city could now live without the Batman's protection especially, since the Joker is dead and Arkham City is already closed.
However, "as the sun rises in Gotham City, dangerous new threats emerge from the shadows … and the Arkham Knight is just beginning," DC said in their press release.
The site further explained that unlike the previous Batman games, the forthcoming title's villain isn't based on a character from the Batman comic book canon. Therefore, this prequel comic series could help introduce the titular villain, Arkham Knight.
"This in-continuity prequel comic set prior to the events of the brand-new video game Batman: Arkham Knight is a must-read!" DC went on to say.
IGN further cited DC saying that the "Digital First" comic book will be penned by Peter J. Tomasi with the art to be provided by Viktor Bogdanovic and Art Thibert.
First issue of the Batman: Arkham Knight' prequel comic series will go on sale by March 11, 2015.
Fans could also expect two variant covers for the premiere issue of the fiction. One cover will be made by Gary Frank while the other will get inspiration from the game's art.
Batman: Arkham Knight will hit the shelves by June 2, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
