'Batman v Superman' Update, Rumors: Major Batman Character Already Rumored to Be Dead
Rumor has it the upcoming and much-awaited superhero flick "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" won't see one of the major Batman universe characters.
Spoilers ahead: proceed at your own risk.
The spoiler report recently took the world of DC Comics fans by storm when Devin Faraci of BadA--Digest.com declared that "Batman v Superman" will open without Gotham Police Department's Commissioner James Gordon.
"In this continuity James Gordon has, at some point in the past, bitten the dust. How and at whose hands I cannot tell you -- all that's noted in the script is that there's a memorial plaque to James Gordon. This explains why the role wasn't cast for the film, at least," BAD wrote.
The premise is that, Batman, who will be played by Ben Affleck, will already be in his 40s when the movie takes place.
"Batman has been operating in Gotham for 17 years. That means there are a lot of untold Batman stories in this universe, which is different from the one established by Christopher Nolan in his Dark Knight trilogy," Faraci explained.
With this in mind, Warner Bros needs to "maintain this continuity for the next decade, as they seem to doing," he went on to say.
The site however noted that this information are all but just rumors. Nonetheless, given that the first stages of production for the film has already been wrapped up, fans may expect more "official" news about BvS in the coming months.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.
