Beyonce's First Interview Since Baby Blue's Birth

Beyonce Knowles has opened up about the new addition to her family, baby Blue Ivy Carter.

Less than two weeks after giving birth at Lennox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, the new mom says she is "doing great" in an interview with Star Magazine UK.

"A child is the greatest gift you can receive, and we are so excited and blessed to be in this situation," Beyonce said.

“I am so excited. From the time I knew I was pregnant we have been parents,” she added.

Last year, the 31-year-old, who reportedly had a natural birth, became pregnant with her and husband Jay-Z's first child.

After allegedly paying $1.3 million to rent out an entire wing at the renowned New York hospital, a number of patients complained that the star-studded couple were being given preferential treatment which ultimately interfered with theirs, according to Daily Mail.

While the state Health Department investigated the complaints, they were ultimately dismissed.

As The Christian Post previously reported, one man had complained that the hospital had been transformed into what felt like an "exclusive nightclub,” arguing that he and his pregnant wife were subject to class warfare.

Despite the complaints, Beyonce defended and praised the staff at Lennox Hill for their efforts during her stay.

"Security was very tight, but not just for the sake of it, it was for the security of our daughter," the singer explained.

"The hospital staff have all been so great, we were ready to go home and show our beautiful daughter where she will be living," she added.

Shortly after the baby's birth, doting dad Jay-Z, 42, released a song in her honor which also revealed that the power couple had suffered a miscarriage prior to conceiving baby Blue.

After their heartbreaking loss, Beyonce emphasized just how much their newborn daughter means to them.

"Nothing can describe the feeling. You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can’t be found," Beyonce gushed.

"It’s an old cliché that the thing expectant moms look forward to the most is holding their child in their arms for the first time, but it’s one of those clichés that is a real truth," she added.

Although it is unclear whether all family members were present during baby Blue's birth, Beyonce confirmed that her hip-hop mogul husband was in the room.

"He would not have missed it for anything. He is a very protective and loyal guy by nature. He is a very protective husband, and since we found out I was pregnant I have seen the protective father in him," she said.

A usually private Beyonce even opened up about how baby Blue will be raised, insisting on a regular upbringing.

"At home, she’ll be part of a normal, loving family with a loving mom, a loving dad, a loving aunt and loving grandparents, just like any other kid," Beyonce said.

When asked about her husband's parenting skills, Beyonce applauded Jay-Z, whose real name is Sean Carter.

"[Sean] will change diapers, of course he will. He is going to be a very hands-on father. He has already said publicly that providing isn’t love," she said.

"Love is being there. Love is doing the little things for your child ... [Sean] is not only an inspirational artist, he is an inspirational husband. I know the next step on his journey is going to be being an inspirational father," she explained.
