Bill Cosby, Ennis Cosby Featured In Father's Day Photo
Bill Cosby shared a touching photo of himself with his late son Ennis on Father's Day this year.
"The Cosby Show" star is one of television's most famous fathers and the 75-year-old often dispenses advice parenting, but Cosby lost one of his five children in 1997.
On Jan. 16 that year, 28-year-old Ennis Cosby was changing a tire on the side of Los Angeles' 405 highway when he was shot dead during an attempted robbery.
On Sunday, still-bereaved Cosby took to Facebook and Twitter honoring his son with a post about Father's Day.
"Ennis William Cosby was our gift," wrote the actor along with a black-and-white image of himself with his hands draped over his son's shoulders. "And his gift is for you."
The post included a link to YouTube where a video entitled "Ennis' Gift" featured a documentary on overcoming dyslexia.
"Ennis' Gift" revealed that Cosby's son was diagnosed with dyslexia but still succeeded- earning degrees from Morehouse College and Columbia University.
Though the photo was shared just yesterday, over seven thousand Facebook users have already "liked" it.
Cosby and his wife Camille Olivia Hanks also had four daughters; Erika, Erinn, Ensa, and Evin.
Meanwhile, Cosby recently opened up about onscreen parenting using his experience portraying Dr. Huxtable on "The Cosby Show."
"I based the series on two important things: Number one… I hated those series where the children were brighter than the parents, and those parents had to play dumb," said Cosby speaking to ABCNews.
"Number two was that I wanted to 'take the house back,'" he added, meaning he no longer wanted to perpetuate bad parenting.
"[We] parents make it difficult," said the actor. "Because we want to be well-liked. And I'm not saying that parenting, you shouldn't want to be well-liked, but you also have to have some kind of judgment."
