'Blessing from God': Former co-stars remember Malcolm-Jamal Warner

Angela Bassett
In a Monday post on her Instagram, actress Angela Bassett, who has worked in film and television since the 1980s and appeared in two episodes of "The Cosby Show," published a tribute to Warner. Bassett wrote that Warner was "more than a gifted actor," remembering her fellow artist as a "longtime friend."
"When a special soul like [Warner] leaves us far too soon, words fail to adequately describe the unimaginable grief," Bassett wrote.
The actress, who also worked with Warner on the television series "American Horror Story" and the drama series "9-1-1," recalled how her former co-star "warmly embraced" her when she was still a working actor, "trying to find [her] way." Bassett remembered Warner's commitment to his craft, stating that his dedication "left an impression on [her] that has never faded."
"He carried the weight of cultural legacy with grace, and he always made space for others to shine," Bassett wrote. "His light will remain in our hearts always. My prayers are with you and yours. Rest in perfect peace until we meet again."
