'Boardwalk Empire' Season 4 Spoilers: Trailer Released (VIDEO)

HBO has released the first trailer for the upcoming season of their hit drama set in the prohibition era, "Boardwalk Empire." Beware of spoilers when reading below.

The trailer seems to promise a threat, or at least an attempt at a threat to Nucky Thompson's position on top. It also contains scenes of new cast members and plenty of hard-hitting action the show is known for.

In the trailer, text inter-spliced between action shots of fistfights reads, "This Fall. No Reign. Goes Unchallenged." It hints at the trouble ahead for Nucky, who is played by Steve Buscemi.

Recently added to the "Boardwalk Empire" cast is Jeffery Wright, who will play the role of Dr. Nacisse. And, according to the trailer, Nacisse will be a main character this season. The trailer features him prominently, and shows him as a foil to Nucky.

In an ominous statement Nacisse says "Only kings understand each other," while staring down Nucky. The trailer ends with Nacisse saying in a slow threatening voice, "What shall we do, Mr. Thompson, what shall we do?" The battle between Nucky and Nacisse should make for an exciting, drama-packed season four.

Also featured in the trailer is new cast member Ron Livingston. He is seen getting close to a dancer. Ron Livingston has signed on to play a traveling businessman who clearly has a fair amount of money at his disposal. The character strikes interest and intrigue from Gillian Darmody, the brothel owner, The Global Dispatch reported.

The premiere episode of "Boardwalk Empire" will air on HBO on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013. Check out the traielr below.
