'Borderlands 3' News: Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford Sheds Light on Why the Sequel Still Isn't Here Yet

Majority of the developers at Gearbox Software may already be working on the sequel

"Borderlands 3" is up there with the games that numerous players all over the world want to see, even though it has not even been officially announced just yet.

The wait for this sequel has already gone on for quite a while, so it is easy to understand why there are more than a few fans getting antsy as they deal with "Borderlands" withdrawal, though what they are going through now may ultimately be for the good of the game.

Speaking recently to IGN, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford talked a bit about why the development of this eagerly anticipated sequel is taking a while and also why it has not been detailed that much up to this point.

First off, Pitchford shared that he believes fans have high expectations for the sequel and that he and the other developers want to meet those. Meeting those expectations is easier said than done, however, and he also indicated that doing so may take some time.

As for why "Borderlands 3" still has not been officially announced at this point, Pitchford noted that there are reasons for that as well. He and the other developers are looking to avoid setting expectations for the sequel too early. Pitchford also noted that they are still waiting for the time when they believe they have "something worthy of announcing."

While it looks like the sequel is still not coming anytime soon, there may be indicators that it may be closer than people think. Pitchford already hinted previously that many of the developers have turned their attention to the sequel.

On top of that, a recent news release from Take-Two also revealed that a "highly anticipated new title from one of 2K's biggest franchises" is coming in fiscal year 2019.

There is no guarantee that the "highly anticipated new title" is the aforementioned sequel but then again, that franchise can certainly be considered as one of "2K's biggest."

More news about "Borderlands 3" should be made available soon.
